Aging In Place Architecture, PLLC was created by Heather Brin, a licensed architect in the State of New York since 1999, who has been helping those with physical needs for over 19 years of her career. She has extensive knowledge of the devices and spatial needs of those with physical challenges, and how to design a persons environment to accommodate those challenges. Having suffered medical issues herself, she understands the desire to be as independent as possible in one's own home. Sometimes it is a device or two that makes the difference between self reliance and full time care.
Aging In Place Architecture, PLLC was created in 2014 when Heather realized that others could benefit from the spatial changes she made in her own home and that of clients to accommodate medical conditions. The firm specializes in helping those with physical challenges (due to surgery, medical conditions, etc.) remain in their homes for as long as possible. What we do is to evaluate a person's spatial needs, propose the design elements needed to maximize ones independence and self-sufficiency, and then make the necessary changes to ones homes. This could be as simple as "picker uppers", devices that help pick up things from the floor, to grab bars, roll in showers, no slip floors, stair lifts, etc.
