What is Aging in Place Week?

Since 2003, the National Aging In Place Council has designated a week in the fall as National Aging in Place Week, so that families – sons, daughters, parents and other trusted advisors – can discuss livability issues. This year, National Aging in Place Week will occur October 15-21.2012.

While an overwhelming majority of us want to remain in our homes for as long as possible, many of us lack critical knowledge of programs and services that make prolonged independent living possible. As families prepare to gather for the holidays, it’s important that you take time to assess your current living environment to make sure all your needs are taken care of.

During National Aging in Place Week, NAIPC members invite the general public to events that combine fun with learning, thereby giving you a chance to better understand your options.
