A geriatric care manager can play a critical role helping you resolve long-term care needs. Generally, they have training in gerontology, social work, nursing, or counseling.

Services provided by a geriatric care manager include conducting care-planning assessments to identify potential problems, eligibility for certain types of assistance, and need for services; reviewing financial, legal, or medical issues; crisis intervention; acting as a liaison between parents and children who live in different parts of the country; and counseling and support.
